Success of Turkish universities in THE Asian University Rankings

Times Higher Education (THE), the international higher education rating
organization, has published its ranking for the best universities in Asia
for 2025. A total of 853 universities from 35 countries and regions were
ranked according to their research, teaching, knowledge transfer and
international outlook in 18 different categories. Four Turkish universities
made it into the top 100.
METU ranked 72nd, Sabancı University 74th, Koç University 79th and ITU
97th. 27 universities from Türkiye managed to enter the top 500. Boğaziçi
University ranked 123rd and Bilkent University 158th in the top 200. Thus,
a total of six universities from Turkey found a place in the top 200.
Other Turkish universities in the top 500 and their rankings are as
follows:
201-250 band: Hacettepe University, Özyeğin University, Yıldız Technical
University; 251-300 band: Bahçeşehir University, Kadir Has University;
301-350 band: Çankaya University, Selçuk University; 351-400 band: Akdeniz
University, Atatürk University, Bartın University, Istanbul University
Cerrahpaşa; 401-500 band: Anadolu University, Ege University, Erciyes
University, Gazi University, Gebze Technical University, Istanbul
University, Istinye University, Necmettin Erbakan University, TOBB
University of Economics and Technology, Yaşar University.
A total of 111 Turkish universities were included in the rankings.
“We will reach higher levels”
Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, stated that they
are pleased that the increasing success of Turkish universities, especially
in recent years, is reflected in international rankings. Emphasizing that
the potential of Turkish universities is even higher, Özvar said, “I
believe that we will be represented by more universities in international
rankings and reach higher points by focusing on internationalization,
academic productivity and increasing research quality.”
